Rare set of Daisho Fuchi Kashira Araki Tomei
What is better than one set? Well 2 of course!!! True Daisho sets from this school are extremely rare. The Tomei School is very famous and most well known for their works in millet designs.  Araki Tomei set the standard for such fine super high quality carving, that some even say he is more detailed than his teacher Goto Ichijo. Top grade shakudo nanako base, with the nanako ultra fine and detailed. The carving of the millet is done extremely fine, and well displayed. There is not much else to say except they are almost too good to mount!!! In a custom fitted box and still with the original shitodome.

Solid Gold Nanako FK of Tori and Ki

Very rare motif of an elephant with elephant trainer implements

The subject of an elephant is most unusual as they are not native to Japan. Definitely a custom ordered set, this fuchi kashira is made by Mitsuyuki, who was a very well known artist and is said to be the founder of the Kikuoka School.

Mitsuyuki was a student of the famous Yanagawa Naomitsu. After he finished his apprenticeship, he went on to found the Kikuoka School and with his younger brother Mitsumasa succeeded in making the school famous. This particular example is very well executed. The shakudo nanako surface is done exceedingly well, and the elephant, which is most likely solid gold, is carved without deft elegance. On the kashira, the implements a trainer for elephants are done in takabori on a flawless nanako surface.

Excellent Sayagata Pattern Kaga Fuchi Kashira

Large, beautiful set of shakudo fuchi kashira done with famous sayagata pattern. Very attractive as a set, one can see why the Kaga style was very popular among the upper level Bushi. High-grade shakudo with ultra fine gold smooth zogan inlay shows the skill of the Kaga Kinko-shi. It is slightly mind boggling how they did such fine workmanship. There lies a small possibility that this set is Sendai work, but in our opinion, it is more than likely Kaga School. Sets like this hardly come up for sale. Kaga kinko collectors understand the rarity of having a good set available for sale. In excellent condition. Original shitodome are intact.

Size:

Fuchi: 3.9 cm x 2.3 cm x 1.1 cm

Very nice fuchi kashira set done in dark black shakudo nanako like that of the early Goto School. Sets like this are seen also done with Tokugawa mons and in a style that is considered “Jo Hin” or quiet elegance. Well cut, the Karakusa and Kiri is a design used only by the upper class such as the Toyotomi and some branches of the Matsudaira. The nanako is done in the old style from the early Edo period. True katana set, as there are no notches for kozuka /kogai. In very nice condition, this set can be enjoyed on its own, or to be used for a very nice blade such as a Juyo Koto blade. Shinsa is also an option.
